The OSRC team conducted an open source awareness-raising seminar, which was organized by the faculty of Computer Science and IT at the University of Sargodha on Friday, 1st June 2007. Around 175 participants attended the orientation session, including officials from Pakistan Telecommunications Limited (PTCL), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Passport Office, Punjab Group of Colleges, the faculty and the students from various disciplines.
A discussion regarding various open source operating systems and other system software demonstrations was followed by a question-and-answer session. Queries included the installation and usage of open source software and its comparison with proprietary software. The participants and hosts appreciated the OSRC team's efforts, and requested that the OSRC also conduct a 10-day workshop at the University again, so that students from Sargodha and its nearby areas learn about the features of open source software in greater detail. |
