OSRC, EnterpriseDB collaborate on Open Source Database Management System Training Program

The OSRC conducted a 2-day, free-of-cost Open Source Database Management System Training Program using PostgreSQL, a powerful, open source object-relational database system, in collaboration with EnterpriseDB Corporation, USA.

The workshops were conducted in:
  • Islamabad, 29-30 June 2009, at Muhammad Ali Jinnah University
  • Lahore, 15-16 July 2009, at the University of Central Punjab (UCP)
  • Karachi, 10-11 August 2009, at Sir Syed University

The OSRC gratefully acknowledges the services of Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Sir Syed University, and the University of Central Punjab (UCP) for volunteering their respective computer laboratories and premises for the workshops' duration.

OSRC and PCA conduct Hardware Vendors’ Open Source Training Workshop in Islamabad
Trainings Completed

From 17-19 August 2009, the Open Source Resource Center (OSRC), in collaboration with the Pakistan Computer Association (PCA), organized an open source operating system workshop for over 70 vendors at the Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Islamabad. The hands-on training session included Linux orientation, system administration and troubleshooting.

OSRC's Open Source Training Workshop at NADRA Headquarters, Islamabad

From 18th-20th May 2009, the Open Source Resource Center (OSRC) trained 20 participants in Linux’s administration and migration track at the National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) headquarters in Islamabad.

The OSRC conducted an open source awareness-raising seminar and training workshop at CIIT Wah Cantt from 25th to 27th March, 2009.
 
OSRC’s Open Source Security Program, 9-11 June 2009, Karachi
Trainings Completed
The OSRC launched its free-of-cost Open Source Security Program from 9th-11th June 2009 in Karachi. Its objective is to develop awareness regarding the basic concepts in IT security, with a focus on using open source security tools. Over 40 participants represented organizations such as IBA, SUPARCO, PSEB’s member companies, Bahria University, and Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences. Sir Syed University volunteered its 60 computers’ laboratory at the professionally-managed event.
